I am an independent geopolitical analyst and consultant based in Taipei, and a former journalist, delivering rigorous on-the-ground intelligence on cross-strait dynamics, PLA modernization, Taiwan's security posture, and broader strategic competition in Asia. My journalism has appeared in Newsweek, BBC World Service, The Print India — where my former Eye on China column reached over one million regular readers — National Geographic, and other premier international outlets.

What distinguishes my analysis is physical presence in Taiwan combined with deep expertise in open-source intelligence (OSINT), Chinese media monitoring, and primary-source verification. I do not rely solely on secondary reporting or Beijing-centric narratives. I track real-time developments in Taipei's policy circles, military signaling, economic indicators, and societal resilience — insights often invisible to remote analysts, but critical for accurate risk assessment.

I currently work independently with advisory firms, corporate strategy teams, and policy clients. My background bridges a former journalism career and consulting work. In addition to prior editorial roles, I have managed complex multi-stakeholder research projects, led analyst teams for G20 compliance reporting, and conducted field research under a National Geographic Explorer grant. I hold an MSc in International Politics from SOAS, University of London and a BA in Anthropology from UBC. I was also a Taiwan Fellowship visiting scholar (2023, National Central Library).

I also develop and instruct the leading China OSINT online course, training journalists, analysts, and researchers in verified open-source intelligence tradecraft for monitoring China and Asia.
